Quick Catch Up

Here is a quick little catch up on what has transpired in our life in the past month or so.

On June 10th we made our way to California. The drive went well considering we spend 6-7 hours a day in the car with two young children.

When we arrived in California we were told it would be 6-8 months until we would get a house on base and oh by the way there is no room in the temporary housing facility. YIKES! We were either going to have to find an apartment in town or live in a hotel and fork out a ton of money. We decided we would wait it out bt go to the housing office and see what we could get.

Long story short there was a three bedroom house available that day for us to move into. It is not in the most ideal location on base, but the house and neighborhood are really nice. It is a ranch style house (YEAH NO STAIRS!) which has been gutted and renovated in the last five years. There is plenty of room for our little family. We back to open training areas which is great! So all in all it is a great place. We have to drive about 30 minutes either way to get off base and Dan has a 30-40 minute drive to work, but we are really enjoying it so far.

Jackson is getting so big and LOVES that the weather is so nice here that he can play outside everyday. We don't have any grass in our back yard yet, but he still likes to play in the dirt. We have started the habit of taking him to the little neighborhood park after dinner everynight to let him run around. We are making the fun transition to one nap a day and have not found the ideal time for it yet. Hopefully we will get it worked out soon.

Hannah is such a joy. She is a little fussier than I remember Jackson being. Her little tummy seems to bother her quite a lot, but we are trying to work that out too. She is getting bigger and probably weighs about 8 lbs. She is finally into her 0-3 month clothes. It is so fun having a girl to dress.

Dan and I are slowly figuring out how to be the parents of two young children. I get my first try at it solo when Dan heads to 29 Palms for two weeks. Wish me luck!
